Katie Carmichael joined Cammack & Strong, P.C. in the fall of 2019. A familiar face around Texas politics and the Capitol, Katie has more than a decade of legislative and regulatory experience. She has a strong background in communications, public affairs and public relations.
Most recently, Katie served as Vice President of Crosswind Media & PR, which in 2018 acquired the company she founded four years prior, Carmichael Communications & Consulting. During her tenure at Crosswind, Katie was responsible for all political strategies, public affairs and legislative initiatives.
Prior to founding her company, she served as Director of Public Affairs for Texas Railroad Commissioner David Porter, and spent time working in various capacities throughout the Texas Legislature, both within the building and on campaigns.
While Katie has worked closely on a wide range of policy issues throughout her career, she is well known for her work on energy issues, specifically oil and natural gas and water issues as they pertain to energy production. Katie played an integral role in producing Commissioner Porter’s 2013 Eagle Ford Shale Task Force Report, as well as authoring the Atlantic Council’s 2014 white paper, “Sustainable Water Management by the Texas Oil and Gas Industry” and the 98th Meridian Foundation’s 2018 paper, “Texas Disposal and Injection Well Regulations.” She has also been published in publications such as Shale Oil & Gas Business Magazine among others.
She continues to keep her interest in water issues active by serving on the board of directors for 98th Meridian Foundation. Katie previously served on the Texas Travel Industry Association’s board of directors, in addition to volunteering on Preservation Austin’s policy committee.
